The school in Vetlanda
The school in Vetlanda took place between September the 15:th and September the 30:th 2007 in Vetlanda museum of Art. The students in the class were seven local frogs who got education in various subjects. When the exhibition was over there was more than a hundred messages recorded by the vistitors! You can stop the slide show and read comments on each photo by clicking on it.
The frog school
The school of frogs is located in an old green house, which has been rebuilt to better fit the frog’s needs. Here the frogs can study for a longer period of time of 2-3 years, or until they reach maturity. After their education they are returned to their home.
To have a permanent location for the frog’s education makes a lot of difference, the education can be much more varied, different methods of teaching can be tried out and people can come and give lectures for the frogs. The green house also follows the changes of the seasons, which means that during the winter the frogs hibernate – which is natural to them.
The school was founded during the summer of 2006 and houses a class of 3 danish frogs, 3 from Malmö, and one from Småland. You can stop the slide show and read comments on each photo by clicking on it.

The frogs in the church of St. John
The first frog teaching project took place in the church of St. John in Malmö, and lasted for a week starting on the 23d of January in 2006. Here a class of seven frogs meets with the audience and took part of the regular church activities. The audience and regular visitors of the church where invited to share their knowledge with the frogs, by recording messages to them, which then where added to the frog’s knowledge base.
Before their appearance in St. Johns church they had been in my care since late August the year before. When the exhibition ended the frogs where put into hibernation and then returned home on the 15th of April the same year.
The show got a lot of media attention, which you can take part of in the media section. The exhibition also lead to an e-mail interview where the artist Jes Brinch interviewed me about the project, that interview is found under the interview section.
If you haven’t already figured it out, the picture above is actually a slideshow documenting the project, you navigate the slide show by clicking on the right edge of each picture. If it for some reason doesn’t work you can find the same pictures on my
flickr page.
